Frequently asked questions
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Both Cloud and self-hosted come with a 14-day free trial, and no credit card is required. On Cloud, sign up and start your trial from the dashboard when you're ready (1 project, 1 organisation, 1 user, and 100 events per day). On self-hosted, install the open-source gateway and enable your Premium trial in-product (2 projects, 1 organisation, 1 user, and unlimited events). When the trial ends you can upgrade to a paid plan, or keep using the free open-source Community edition.
Should I use Convoy Cloud or self-host Convoy?
Both run the same gateway. The difference is who operates it. Choose Cloud if you want us to handle hosting, scaling, and uptime so your team ships without managing infrastructure. Choose self-hosted if you need webhooks to run inside your own environment, whether your own cloud or on-prem, for full control over data, networking, and compliance. Not sure? Start with Cloud; you're not locked in.
Can I move between Cloud and self-hosted later?
Yes. It's the same Convoy gateway underneath, so there's no lock-in. Teams start self-hosted and move to Cloud to offload operations, or go the other way to meet new compliance requirements. Reach out and we'll help you migrate your endpoints and configuration.
Is pricing flat or usage-based?
Flat and predictable. Each plan is a fixed monthly price with a set throughput limit, so there's no per-message metering and no surprise bills at the end of the month. If you outgrow your limit, you upgrade or add capacity as you need it.
Do you offer startup or volume discounts?
Yes. Early-stage startups can apply for discounted pricing to get started affordably, and Enterprise plans include volume discounts as your throughput grows. Book a call and we'll find the right fit.
Can I receive webhooks, or only send them?
Both. Convoy is a complete webhook gateway: send outgoing webhooks to your customers and receive incoming webhooks from third parties through the same platform, with retries, transformations, and delivery monitoring built in.
